Fly Tying
BIG BLACK HEAD
Hook: Mustad 5/0
Thread: 3/0 Black
Tail: Black Monster Hair
Body: Spun Black Deer Hair
Tie in your thread at the back of the hook where you will be tying in the tail.
A base layer over the length is not necessary as it makes it easier to spin the deer hair on the bare hook!
Tie in the tail and leave it long, 3-4" is good!
Spin in clumps of deer hair, tie in front of each clump and stack it back.
Continue tying in clumps until the eyelet of the hook.
Whip finish the fly for trimming.
Trim the body starting with making the bottom nice and flat and close to the hook.
Trim the front of the head into a bullet shape, leave a collar over the tail.
Ready for action!
